Weekly Update
January 28, 2019ELA
This week the students are beginning new units. In reading the students will be researching their assigned historical figures. In writing the students will be learning about the research process and learning how to record information. They will then use this information to create a speech for their project which will be sent home via ClassDojo or Seesaw for the students to practice. In grammar we are reviewing adjectives and articles to prepare for their test on Friday. In word study we are learning about the vowel team "ue". The Unit Test will be given on Monday and the High Frequency Test will be given on Tuesday this week. M/S/SS This week the students are continuing in their current units. In math the students are working on reviewing to prepare for their test on Friday. The test will cover coins, skip counting, and word problems. In science the students are continuing to learn about natural resources. This week they will focus on learning about the different types of bodies of water. In social studies the students are working on understanding consumers, producers, free enterprise, and taxes. This week the students will be completing their current units in reading and writing. This week in reading we are reviewing fairy tales and learning about fables. The students will take their Unit Test on Monday which will cover the story elements as well as comprehension questions pertaining to a grade level text. In writing the students are completing their poetry collection. In grammar they are learning about adjectives and articles. In word study they are learning about the long U pattern u_e. M/S/SS This week the students are continuing to work with money and learn about financial literacy. This will also continue in social studies with a focus on goods and services. In science the students are learning about natural resources and focusing on fresh and salt water. HOMEWORK Homework is due on Friday for a grade. The students are expected to complete their Weekly Reading Log, Word Study homework, and Dreambox lessons. They are also expected to review their High Frequency Word List which will be assessed on Tuesday 1-29. IMPORTANT DATES 1-25 Jump Rope for Heart January 14, 2019 |
