Weekly Update
September 25, 2017ELA/SS This week in reading, the students are working on developing their reading habits and using problem solving strategies to decode unfamiliar words. They will also be digging in deeper into the area of comprehension and will be assessed on their independent reading skills on Friday. In writing, the students are working on their personal narratives and adding craft moves to their own pieces. They will continue to work on complete sentences, interrogative/declarative sentences, and using appropriate punctuation in grammar. In social studies, the students are continuing to work on map skills and will be moving on to learn about the continents and oceans. MATH/SCIENCE This week in math, the students are continuing to work on odd and even numbers as well as place value. Place value is a difficult concept, so please help out by reviewing homework and allowing opportunities to practice at home. In science, the students are working on body systems. HOMEWORK The students are required to complete their Weekly Reading log, Word Study homework, and math homework. Homework is due on Friday for a GRADE. The students are also expected to review their High Frequency Words. (They will be given a new list this on Tuesday. They will be tested in 4 weeks.) IMPORTANT DATES 9-25 College Spirit Day Every Monday the teachers wear college shirts to promote a college education. Students are welcome to participate, but it is not necessary. 9-27 Individual Picture Day 9-29 Donuts for Dad 7:20-7:55
