Week 17LA/SS
This week in reading the students are working on their fluency while reading in small groups. There will be a fluency assessment this week. The students are also working on procedural texts and will receive their Checkpoint test on Tuesday. In social studies the students are learning about the 3 branches of government. They must be able to identify the 3 branches and explain each branch and their role in our government. MATH/SCIENCE This week the students are reviewing content in both subjects to prepare for the Math and Science Checkpoints. On both tests the students will be questioned over the skills they have learned from this 9 weeks. HOMEWORK The students are expected complete their Weekly Reading Log and math homework. The homework this week will review the skills that will be on their Math Checkpoint. Due to the winter holiday, the students will not receive word study homework. This week in reading we are examining nonfiction text features found in procedural texts. The students will be expected to know table of contents, glossary, photos, captions, and headings as well as other important text features. They will also continue to focus on fluency during small group instruction. In writing the students are continuing to work on procedural texts. They will be learning how to create a piece that is clear and easy to understand. In social studies the students are learning about the branches of our government. MATH/SCIENCE This week in math that students are moving on from graphs and beginning to discuss financial literacy. They will focus on understanding the importance of saving and spending money. In science the students are exploring rocks and working to understand the physical properties and differences between a variety of rocks. HOMEWORK The students are required to complete their Weekly Reading Log, Word Study homework, Math homework, and review their High Frequency Words/Sight Words. Homework is due on Friday for a grade. |
